Shirley Elaine Egert, 90, of Moline, formerly of Kewanee, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Center in Peoria, Illinois.  Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Saint John Paul II Catholic Church in Kewanee, Illinois. Reverend Jeremy Freehill will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, January 11, 2019, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 4:30 pm, prior to visitation at the funeral home. 

Shirley was born on September 21, 1928, in Kewanee, to Leslie and Teresa (Rigg) Stauffer. She married William Egert on June 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1974. After raising her seven children, she worked as an administrative legal secretary and office manager for the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office for 19 years. Shirley then worked as a bailiff for 14 years at the Rock Island County Courthouse. 

Shirley had a vibrant and fun-loving personality that drew people to her. She loved social gatherings with family and friends and especially enjoyed watching the sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley had a passion for the Chicago Bulls and enjoyed watching NBA games. She was a former member of the Midland Country Club. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Verlin Stauffer. Shirley is survived by her seven children, Melinda See of Peoria, Illinois, William Egert of Scottsdale, Arizona, Michael (Michaela) Egert of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Mary Melissa Underwood of Pekin, Illinois, Maribeth (James) Dura of Edwards, Illinois, Marcia (Joe) Becker of Peoria, Illinois, and Mary Michele (Thomas) Lofgren of Rock Island, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Richard L. Owens Hospice Center in Peoria and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. Please leave an online condolence for Shirley’s family at
