Mary L. Nordstrom, 93, a resident at the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo, formerly of Bishop Hill, died at 3:15 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Tricia Chapman and Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church, Abilities Plus or to the Hillcrest Home Activities Fund.
She was born October 22, 1925 in Ulah, IL, the daughter of LeRoy and Cleo (Wiley) Slover. She married Bryce Milton Nordstrom on August 22, 1948 in Bishop Hill and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2009. They farmed in the Bishop Hill area for over 60 years. Survivors include two sons and three daughters; Michael (Delores) Nordstrom of Annawan, Lynn Dunn of Andover, IL, Carol (Dennis) Paschedag of Atlanta, GA, Mark (Lisa) Nordstrom of Bishop Hill and Joanne (Chris) Milojevich of Plainfield, IL, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren with three on the way and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Benjamin Slover and two sisters, Dorothy Karl and Arlene Cromien.
Mary was a member of the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church and in her early years the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed square dancing, tending to her flowers, gardening and playing cards.
