Viola E. Washburn, 88, of Kewanee, died at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Kewanee Care Home. She was born December 24, 1929 in Kewanee, the daughter of Edgar and Elma (McNaught) Payne. She graduated from Kewanee High School. She married George K. Washburn on May 25, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Viola is survived by a daughter, Sherry (Kirk) Moon, Kewanee; two grandchildren, Nichelle (Blair) Morey, Kewanee, Angela Seitz, Fountain Hills, Arizona; four great grandchildren, Steve Seitz, Caden Humphrey, Talyn Mercer and Scarlett Morey; sister, Lavonne (Duane) Schiltz, Kewanee; brother, Ellis Payne, Geneseo; and a special friend, Dorothy Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter in infancy.
Viola worked for the Union Federal Savings and Loan retiring in 1988. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved going on vacations and being with her friends. Viola was a life member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Church U.C.C., Kewanee. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Kewanee Care Home for the care that Viola received.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Church U.C.C., Kewanee. Reverend David Lorenzen will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Evangelical Church U.C.C.
