Regional Media Movie Review Kubo and the Two Strings

Kubo and the Two Strings tells the story of a magical little boy and his magical guitar. Using his magic, the boy tells fantastical stories that come to life as he tells them with origami paper shapeshifting wildly into magical visual aids. What the boy doesn't yet know is that the stories he tells, given to him by his mother, Charlize Theron, about warriors, magic, evil and a protective suit of armor, are true stories and he is soon to see them come to real life. Here is my review of Kubo and the Two Strings.

Regional Media Movie Review Anthropoid

Anthropoid was the code name given to a cover World War 2 plot that aimed to take out a high ranking member of the 3rd Reich. Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan star as former Czech soldiers now allied assassins whose mission in returning to Czechoslavakia is to kill the3rd ranking member of the 3rd Reich. Doing this however, means that hundreds of people will die, a cynical and calculated strategic reality. Based on a true story. Here is my review of Anthropoid.

Regional Media Movie Review Florence Foster Jenkins

Florence Foster Jenkins (Meryl Streep) is a Dame of New York society and a patron of the arts. That said, her own art is rather lacking. Florence may in fact be the worst singer in the world though you wouldn't know from from her husband (Hugh Grant) who's gone out of his way to keep her from finding out, going to elaborate lengths to provide positive feedback. However, when Florence books Carnegie Hall there is little hope he can keep the secret from coming out. Here's my review of Florence Foster Jenkins.

Regional Media Movie Review Don't Think Twice

Don't Think Twice is the story of a New York improv troupe that is fractured when one of the members lands a gig on a Saturday Night Live-esque sketch show. Keegan Michael Key is the lucky one who gets the call up to the big time while his friends, including writer-director Mike Birbiglia, Chris Gethard, Kate Micucci, Tami Sagher and Gillian Jacobs, are left to process their feelings of jealousy and their place in world of entertainment. Here is my review of Don't Think Twice which is opening Friday, August 19th, at Cinema Le Fleur in Des Moines.
