Regional Media Movie Review The Damned Don't You Wish We Were Dead

The documentary The Damned Don't You Wish We Were Dead tells the story of punk pioneers The Damned, the band often credited as the first punk band. The Damned were the first to land a record deal and were touring England before bands that became the true icons of punk The Clash and the Sex Pistols. How influential were The Damned? Members of both The Clash and Sex Pistols were first nearly members of The Damned before they moved on to form their better known bands. Don't You Wish We Were Dead aims to restore The Damned to their place in punk history. Here's my review of The Damned Don't You Wish We Were Dead which will be available on Blu Ray, DVD and VOD on May 20th.

Money Monster stars George Clooney as the cynical host of a Jim Kramer-esque investment show on a nameless cable network. Clooney's Les is forced to confront his shallow show's many sins when a disgruntled viewer, Unbroken's Jack O'Connell, bursts into Les's studio live on the air and takes him hostage with a gun and a bomb. Watching and trying to keep things calm from the booth is Les's producer played by Julia Roberts. The film is the second directorial effort from Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster. Regional Media Movie Review The Family Fang

The Family Fang, directed by and starring Jason Bateman, alongside Nicole Kidman, is the story of Baxter and Annie, brother and sister who grew up with a pair of eccentric artist parents, played in present day scenes by Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett. When Baxter is injured while covering a story as a reporter, he winds up accidentally reunting with his flaky parents. Not wanting to be alone with them, Baxter, drags his movie star sister Annie back to their upstate New York childhood home and what begins to unfold is not quite the disfunctional family comedy you are expecting. Here's my review of The Family Fang...

Regional Media Movie Review Bridgend

Bridgend is based on the true story of a suicide cluster among teens in a small mining community in Wales. In fact, 79 teenagers have taken their lives in the town of Bridgend since 2007 and experts and law enforcement have thus far been incapable of explaining why. Director Jeppe Ronde uses this story as the backdrop for a sad and compelling drama involving Sara (Game of Thrones' Gilly, Hannah Murray), a girl just returned to Bridgend after years away. Her father is the new chief of police and tasked with investigating the, in the movie's universe, 23 recent suicides in the town. Meanwhile, Sara falls in with a group of teenagers who's friends have been, in their words 'leaving town.' Will Sara get sucked into this seeming cult of sadness or can her father solve the mystery of the recent rash of suicides before it's too late. That last couple of sentences would encompass how a Hollywood feature would posit this story. The reality of Bridgend the movie is far more bleak and compelling as you can hear in this review...

Bridgend is available today on most On Demand formats.

Regional Media Movie Review Captain America Civil War

Captain America Civil War finds Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at odds with his friend Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) over the idea of a United Nations panel that would oversee The Avengers, and decide where and when they can intervene globally to fight bad guys. Stark is for the resolution, called the Sokovia Accords, named for the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Captain America feels that only The Avengers can be trusted to decide where and when to intervene. Things become complicated when The Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) becomes an international wanted man and only Captain America and his loyal Avengers, are wanting to bring him in safely, rather than shoot first. Here's my review of Captain America Civil War.
