Regional Media Movie Review Mother's Day

Mother's Day stars Jennifer Aniston as a woman stunned to find that her ex-husband has remarried on a whim. She passes this story on to her friend, played by Kate Hudson, who has her own trouble. Mother's Day is coming and she hasn't spoken to her racist mother, Margo Martindale, since she married an Indian American doctor, Asif Mandvi, and had a baby. Kate's sister, Sarah Chalke, also has a secret from mom, she's gay and married and has adopted a child. Several other plots come into play as well including Julia Roberts as a host on the Home Shopping Network. Here's my review of Mother's Day

Regional Media Movie Review Keanu

Keanu stars Jordan Peele as Rel, a down his luck, recently dumped sad sack whose life is transformed when he finds a kitten that he names Keanu. The plot kicks in when drug dealers break into his home while Rel is out with his cousin Clarence (Keegan Michael Key) and the only thing stolen is Keanu. To save their cat the mild mannered cousins will have to outwit seriously drug dealers and murderers, each of whom also fall in love with Keanu. Here's my review of Keanu from today's Mid Morning in the Cities.

Regional Media Movie Review The Huntsman Winter's War

The Huntman: Winter's War is both a prequel and a sequel to 2014's Snow White and the Huntsman, only minus Snow White (Kristen Stewart). The film stars Chris Hemsworth who returns to the role of Eric the Huntsman to first, take us back to his origin story as a child torn from his parents by the Ice Queen Freya (Emily Blunt) and taught to become a heartless warrior. The heartless part didn't work out as Eric grows to be a great warrior while also falling in forbidden love with fellow warrior Sarah (Jessica Chastain). When the Ice Queen uses magic to tear the lovers apart, Eric leaves for his adventure with Snow White while Sarah remains a warrior under the Ice Queen. Cut to several years after Snow White and the Huntsman and a new adventure kicks in when the magic mirror once controlled by the evil queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) goes missing and the Huntsman is tasked with tracking it down. Along the way he will reunite with Sarah and go to war with both the Ice Queen and the Evil Queen reincarnated. Here's my review of The Huntsman: Winter's War.

Regional Media Movie Review Demolition

Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal) begins to literally take apart everything in his life from a busted refrigerator to a broken men's room door in the wake of his wife's death. The deconstruction of everyday objects however, is merely a metaphor for his inability to take apart his own conflicted feelings for his late wife despite the willing ear of her father played by Chris Cooper and the open heart of a new friend played by Naomi Watts. Here's my review of Demolition....

Regional Media Movie Review God's Not Dead 2

God's Not Dead 2 stars Melissa Joan Hart as a teacher who finds her job in jeopardy after she answers a student's question in class about Jesus by quoting a piece of scripture. Her seemingly harmless answer leads to a nationally followed court case where she fights for her job while refusing to make an apology for her actions that she feels would be akin to denying her faith. Here's my review of God's Not Dead 2...
