In girls high school volleyball on Monday night, the great season for the Wethersfield Lady Geese came to a close as they fell in sectional action to West Prairie 25-20, 18-25 and 16-25.

Monday Sports

The Annawan-Wethersfield Lady Titans are headed to state on Saturday in Cross Country action.

The Lady Titans finished fourth in sectional action at Oregon H.S. last Saturday and will run next Saturday in Peoria at Detweiler Park.

Members of that team include Rachel Gomez, Whitney Johnson, Rachel Cook, Cora Rusk, Kaleigh Nimrick and Emily McClelland

Friday Sports

The Wethersfield Lady Geese won their volleyball regional championship on Thursday night defeating Annawan 25-12 and 25-15. Tess Anderson of Wethersfield set a new school record for assists during the game breaking the old record set by Sam Culver.

The Lady Geese now move on to sectional play at Brimfield next Monday night at 5:30 as they will take on West Prairie.

Monday night's game will be broadcast live on 102.5 WJRE

Thursday Sports

A wild finish in game two of the World Series in Los Angeles last night and in 11 innings, the Houston Astros defeated the LA Dodgers 7-6. The best of seven series is now tied at one game each with game three Friday night in Houston.

Wednesday Sports

In girls high school volleyball regional action at Wethersfield Tuesday night, the Lady Geese defeated Galva 25-10 and 25-5. In the nightcap, Annawan defeated Low Point Washburn 25-11 and 25-17.

The regional championship on Thursday night will feature Wethersfield at 34-0 against Annawan at 14-7 with a 6 o'clock start.

The games will be aired live on 102.5 WJRE

In girls high school volleyball regional action on Monday night, the Geneseo Lady Leafs defeated the Kewanee Boilergirls 25-18 and 25-19 at Geneseo High School. The Boilergirls wrap their season at 14-18-1, while Geneseo moves on to semifinal action tonight against Sterling.

In NFL action on Sunday, the Chicago Bears utilized strong defense and two td's from safety Eddie Jackson to defeat Carolina 17-3.

With the victory, the Bears improved to 3-4 on the season.

In girls high school volleyball on Wednesday night, the Wethersfield Lady Geese defeated Annawan 25-15 and 25-21. The Lady Geese wrapped the regular season with a record of 33-0 and a perfect run in the LTC of 10-0.

The Chicago Cubs are in a three games to none hole in the National League Championship Series after falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 on Tuesday night. Game four tonight at Wrigley Field with the first pitch at 8:01. You can hear the game live on Newstalk 1450 WKEI.

In girls high school volleyball on Monday, the Wethersfield Lady Geese laid claim to the LTC championship by defeating United 25-11 and 25-15. The Lady Geese are now 32-0 on the season and 9-0 in the Lincoln Trail.

The Kewanee Boilergirls were also victorious in volleyball action on Monday night as they defeated Prophetstown 13-25, 25-17 and 25-23.

NLDS game five goes to the Chicago Cubs. In a wild and entertaining game, the Cubs outlasted Washington 9-8 and the Cubs are headed to the NLCS for the third straight year. Game one will be played Saturday night in Los Angeles.

The Three Rivers Athletic Conference all conference girls golf team has been announced.

While the Kewanee Boiler Girls were incomplete as a team, as an individual the Boiler Girls Riley Hansen took the top spot with an 82 at the par 72 at Sherrard

Major League Baseball NLDS game 4 set for Tuesday afternoon at Wrigley Field was rained out.

The Cubs and Washington will play this afternoon at 3:08 with Chicago leading that best of five  series two games to one.

In girls high school golfing sectionals on Monday, Sophomore Riley Hansen of the Kewanee Boiler Girls posts an 80 and will move on to state for the second straight year.

Also moving on to state as an individual is Galva's Elizabeth Whitford who posted an 84.

Moving on to state as a team is the Geneseo Lady Leafs who finished third with a total of 336

In girls high school golf on Wednesday, Kewanee's Riley Hansen won the regional title at McNabb with an 80 on the card. Teammate Natalie Yepsen will also be moving on to sectional with a 111 total.

Wethersfield's CeCe Liichow is also headed to sectional after she shot a 107.

The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale.

The Cubs wrap their season at 92-70 winning the NL Central for the second straight year.

The Cubs begin their post season play on Friday night in Washington against the Nationals.
