Update: The Quad Cities Bomb Squad determined that no bomb was inside the vehicle of a suspect who had claimed, after being pulled over by police just after 8:15 Am on Monday, that there was a bomb in their vehicle. Police had been called after the suspect had made a scene at a local Geneseo business in the area of Chicago Street and Ogden Avenue. The suspect is in custody and the area is now fully re-opened to traffic.
The Geneseo Police Department has called in the Quad Cities Area Bomb Squad after an arrest was made following a traffic stop. According to the Geneseo Police Department, at approximately 8:15 Am, Geneseo Police were called to the area of Chicago Street and Ogden Avenue regarding a suspect making a scene at a local business. The suspect was pulled over by Police and in the process of the arrest of the suspect, the suspect indicated that they had a bomb in their vehicle. A soft lockdown was initiated a local schools and the area around Chicago Street and Ogden Avenue remains on a complete lockdown while the bomb squad investigates the vehicle.
