The door fence will remain for now and the owner will be allowed to repair areas of the fence while awaiting a ruling from the Kewanee Planning and Zoning Commission next month. According to homeowner Brenda Weston, who erected the controversial door fence at her home at 700 South Main Street, a variance has been requested and paperwork has been filed. The next step is a meeting in front of the Kewanee Planning and Zoning Commission which is scheduled for late October. The meeting is open to the public and Brenda is asking those who support the fence to come to that meeting to show support. Regardiess of how the Planning and Zoning Commission votes, the issue will then go before the Kewanee City Council sometime in late October where the Council will have the final say as to whether the fence stays or goes.
