At Monday night's Kewanee City Council Meeting the City Council voted 4 to 1 in favor of entering into negotiations for a 1 year contract to provide ambulance service to the Village of Neponset. Mayor Gary Moore was our guest on Tuesday's People to People program and discussed why he was in favor of the agreement...

In casting his vote in favor of the idea, Mayor Moore stated that he felt the deal was a win-win for Kewanee and for Neponset.

City Council member Mike Yaklich was the lone vote against the agreement. Mr Yaklich objected to offering ambulance service to residents of The Village of Neponset at what he believed to be a lesser cost than that paid by residents of Kewanee. The next step will be City Manager Gary Bradley negotiating a contract with the Village of Neponset that will determine exactly how much Kewanee will be reimbursed for the costs of making ambulance runs to Neponset. The final negotiated contract will then be brought in front of the Kewanee City Council for approval.
