Local News

Dianne Packee and Steve Faber were our guests on People to People to talk about the remarkable number of events happening this weekend at the Prairie Chicken Chalk Art Festival here in Kewanee. Among the most talked about parts of the weekend is the mural dedication for Walter F. Bailey that will take place on Sunday. The mural work gets underway today with the artists hard at work. Work on the mural will be part of the mural tour that will be a major highlight this weekend along with, of course, the remarkable chalk art, both amateur and pro level with competitions and prizes. The dirt pile is back along with plenty of other kids activities and the art of some of our local schools is already lining downtown businesses and showing off our kids' unique talents. Steve and Diane talk about all this and more in our People to People Podcast.

I will be broadcasting live twice from the Prairie Chicken Chalk Art Festival this weekend, Friday night from 5 Pm to 7 Pm featuring interviews with the chalk artists and from 8 Am to 11 Am on Saturday morning on WJRE.
