Four people were injured when a vehicle struck an ambulance near Middle Road in Bettendorf. According to a release from the City of Bettendorf, the driver of a Chevrolet Aveo, a 24 year old woman from Moline was traveling westbound near the intersection of Middle Road and Parkway Drive when the Aveo struck a Medic EMS ambulance that was traveling westbound. The ambulance did not have its emergency lights. The driver of the Aveo was transported to Genesis East with serious injuries as was a three year old child who was restrained in a child seat at the time of the accident. There is no word on the child's condition. Three people were in the ambulance at the time of accident including one patient and two Medic EMS employees. The patient in the ambulance was transported to UnityPoint in Bettendorf while the pair of Medic EMS employees were taken from the scene to Genesis East. Middle Road was closed to traffic for 50 minutes while members of the Bettendorf Fire and Police Departments, Medic EMS employees and City of Bettendorf public works employees worked to clear the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
