Northern Illinois Keeps BCS Bid Alive

Northern Illinois remained alive for a second consecutive BCS bowl berth with
a 33-14 win over Western Michigan on Tuesday. Jordan Lynch also stated his
case as a darkhorse Heisman Trophy candidate, rushing for 321 yards with three
touchdowns to break his own FBS record for rushing yards by a quarterback. The
Huskies, who lost to Florida State in last year's Orange Bowl, are currently
ranked 14th in the BCS and need to finish 12th or higher in the standings for
an automatic berth in one of the top-tier bowl games. They'll close out their
season on Dec. 6 in the Mid-American Championship game against wither Bowling
Green or Buffalo.
