Marilyn A. DeValkenaere, 82, of Kewanee, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Kewanee Care. Marilyn was born December 2, 1931 in rural Wethersfield, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Dustin) Craig. She graduated from Wethersfield the class of 1949. She married Joe DeValkenaere, they later divorced.
Marilyn is survived by daughter, Chris (Don) Greiner, Independence, IA; two sons, Jay (Annette) DeValkenaere, Kewanee, Rod (Dee Dee) DeValkenaere, Kewanee; five grandchildren, Brian (Cary) Prusator, Andy (Amanda) Prusator, Angela (Larry) Dillender, Jason DeValkenaere, and Christine Boston; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Marilyn was the head checker and retired from the Eagles Grocery, Kewanee. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the clerk’s union at the Eagles Grocery, the Flemish American Club. She enjoyed bowling on the team in Kewanee and had been the secretary for the bowling association. She also loved playing bingo.
Funeral services will be 3 pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Pastor Paul Copeland will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Wethersfield Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Casual attire for the services has been requested by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that the memorials be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 in Marilyn’s name.
