Wanda “Janie” McCormick, 88, of Kewanee died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Kewanee Care. Wanda was born October 21, 1929 in Kewanee, the daughter of Howard and Eva (Ames) Holmes. She graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1947. Wanda married Rex McCormick, Jr. on June 5, 1949 in Kewanee, he survives.
Wanda is survived by two sons, Mark (Beth) McCormick, Colona, IL, Matt (Lori) McCormick, Maple Valley, WA; four grandchildren, Alan (Brittney) McCormick, Michelle (Kellen) Fryrear, Amy McCormick, Eric McCormick; two great grandchildren, Hailey, Cameron; and one brother, Howard Holmes, Jr., Washington, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Julie.
Wanda was a home maker. She was a life member of the First Christian Church of Kewanee. She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She also loved singing in the church choir. She spent her spare time painting, and spending time with her family.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the First Christian Church, Kewanee. Pastor Joe Schmidt will officiate. A private family burial will be at a later date at the Wethersfield Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Kewanee.
