Donna J. Johnson, 79, formerly of Cambridge, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 13th at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. The family requests casual dress for the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Henry County Humane Society, Geneseo.
Donna Jean Smith was born March 27, 1938 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter Gale and Doris (Hawthorne) Smith. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Rodney D. Johnson on December 30, 1956 in Cambridge Lutheran Church. He survives. Donna had worked at Bank Orion, Cambridge, and retired after 34 years. She was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and she loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Rodney, Geneseo; two daughters, Denise (Charlie) Brown, Cambridge, and Deana Fox, Orion; six grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Humphrey, Michael (Jessica) Beam, Brandon (Amanda) Beam, Tyler Fox, Tanner (Amber) Fox, and Jacob Fox; nine great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Avery and Ella Humphrey, Rodney, Rowdy, and Ruby Sue Beam, Caylee and Colton Beam, and Elizabeth Fox; a brother, Carl (Mary) Smith, Geneseo; and a sister, Bette (Gene) Clarke, Colona. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lavonne and Linder Schumaker.
