Obituaries

Dale L. Moon, 86, of Kewanee, died at 4:35 pm on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Courtyard Estates of Kewanee. Dale was born June 15, 1931 in Kewanee, the son of George and Oka (Marshall) Moon. He married Shirley Mae Warren at First Baptist Church, Kewanee on November 9, 1952, she survives.

 

Also surviving are four children, Terry (Kathy) Moon, Terre Haute, IN, Debra (Bob) Schaecher, Kewanee, Joey (Nancy) Moon, Kewanee, Ricky (Chris) Moon, Kewanee; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Dwaine (Beverlee) Moon, Darrel (Beverly) Moon. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean Moon; a great-granddaughter, Maggie Madsen; and one sister-in-law, Betty Lindburg.

 

Dale first worked as an Industrial Engineer at Hyster for 35, while there he taught welding at Black Hawk East for many years. Later he was a supervisor and an advanced robotic engineer at John Deere, he retired in 1993. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kewanee, the Masonic Lodge #159 and the Farm Bureau. Dale started the First Baptist Church play ministry, taught sunday school, was a superintendent at the church, was a deacon, and served on many boards. He enjoyed farming, collecting coins, gardening. He was also an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Dale enjoyed traveling the US with Shirley in their RV.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Kewanee. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee and one hour prior to the funeral at First Baptist Church.
