Lou Jean Ptashnik 88, of Kewanee, IL, joined her husband in heaven, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at The Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, IL, at 1:00 pm. Lou Jean was born September 13, 1928 in Downing, Missouri, the daughter of Aven and Ruby (Poole) Crawford. She attended grade school and graduation from Memphis High School in 1946. She married Fledgamier (Bill) Ptashnik on February 5, 1955 in Moline, IL.
Lou Jean is survived by her son, Kenneth (Kristina) Ptashnik, Kewanee; 3 grandchildren, Ashley (David) Lamb, Metamora, IL, Adam Ptashnik, Kewanee, Apryl Ptashnik, Neponset; 3 step grandchildren, Victoria, Benjamin and Samuel Gleichman; 4 great-grandchildren, Madilynne, Witten, Kennedy and Fallon. She enjoyed the love of 7 nieces and 2 nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband, 1 son (Terry), 2 sisters (Maxine and Mary), and one brother (Harry Lee).
Lou Jean worked for over 20 years for John Deere in East Moline, having retired in 1984 from Eagles Grocery store after 14 years as cashier.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing (especially Polka) for many years with her husband and her grandchildren. Her grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Priscilla class and shared membership with her husband in the National Camper and Hikers Association.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Kewanee, IL. Reverend Doctor Dale Dykstra will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery.
