Patricia J. Murphy, 86, a resident at Rosewood Care Center of East Peoria, formerly of Kewanee, died at 4:56 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 25 at Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.
She was born March 2, 1931 in Kewanee, the daughter of Philip and Gertrude (Morrisey) Miler. She married Timothy J. “Tim” Murphy on February 12, 1972 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Philip “Phil” Miler and a sister in infancy. She is survived by two daughters, Jan (Deke) Ingram of Clearwater, FL and JoAnne (Jason) Hurdis of Washington, IL, and three granddaughters, Jessica, Jana and Jennifer.
Patricia graduated from Kewanee High School in 1949. She had worked at Mail-O-Graph in Kewanee and in the radiology department at Kewanee Public Hospital. She was a member of Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a volunteer for the Henry County Humane Society and a past member of the Kewanee Elks Lodge Ladies. She enjoyed giving a helping hand to any in need and with her beliefs, often light candles at church and prayed for people’s concerns. She loved her family, her grandchildren and her dogs.
