Vivian I. Wright, 83, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Hillcrest Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 16th at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Chis Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Annawan. Visitation for Vivian will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vivian was born on November 3, 1930 in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Harvey and Bonnie (Wolf) Morton. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to William H. Wright on April 11, 1970 in Geneseo. He preceded her in death in 1999. Vivian had been a bookkeeper for Mr. Dedrick and also the Galva Creamery. She then started her career with the Geneseo Telephone Company starting as an operator and then moving to a front desk clerk, working there for 40 years retiring in 1991.
Vivian was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed going to bible study and quilters group at church. She was an avid and accomplished quilter.
She is survived by her sisters: Rita (LesRoy) Phyfe, Geneseo, Arlene (Larry) Adkins, Atkinson; children: Cary (Pat) Wright, Geneseo, Joan Marie Wright, Houston, TX, Patrick (Jill) Wright, South Pasadena, CA; grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Nick) Holke, Jolene (Sean) Johnson, Liam Wright, Allegra Wright; 7 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Jean Morton, Moline
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her brother Harvey Morton, and her sister Alvera Wachtel.
