Daniel B. Steffen

Daniel B. Steffen, 86, of Neponset, Il. and formerly of Low Point, Il. died at 5:50 A.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Kewanee Care Home. Daniel was born June 1, 1928 in Low Point the son of Daniel and Janet (Mitchell) Steffen. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1946. Daniel served in the U.S. Army on the front lines in Korea for 18 months and was discharged in November of 1952. He married Reva Arnold on August 16, 1953 in Buda, Il. She survives along with one son Scott (Janell) Steffen of Neponset, a granddaughter Danielle Steffen, many nieces and nephews and special friends Mary Pickering and Mary Jane Werderman. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers John and James and his daughter and son-in law Theresa and Ron Brown.

Daniel farmed all his life. First, in the Low Point area and later in Neponset where the couple moved in 1960. They enjoyed wintering in Texas where he played shuffleboard on the Rio Grande Valley League. An avid sportsman, Daniel played baseball and softball in his younger days and particularly enjoyed the highly competitive Peoria Sunday Morning League. An avid bowler he was inducted into the Kewanee Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1984. He was a Chicago Bears, Bulls and long suffering Cubs fan.

Daniel and Reva had travelled to all 50 states and Europe. He attended the First Christian Church in Kewanee.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Kewanee. Pastors Joe Schmidt and Brian Giese will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee where military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the Church. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church or the Buda Rescue Squad. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of arrangements. Private online condolences may be shared with the family at
