L. Eileen Gunning

L. Eileen Gunning, 75, of Neponset, Il. died at 4:30 A.M. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Il. Eileen was born October 13, 1938 in rural Buda, Il. the daughter of W. Wayne and Mary Ann (Hood) Miller. She graduated from Neponset High School in 1956.

Eileen married Merrill Gunning on November 9, 1956 in Neponset, Il. He survives along with two daughters Patricia Miller of Peoria, Il., Virginia (Roger) Pratt of Kewanee, Il., two sons Robert M. (Shelly) Gunning of Rio Rancho, N.M., Richard H. Gunning of Ft. Collins, Co., seven grandchildren Stephanie (Nick) Tholin of Rockford, Il., Kimberly (Sean) Whippie of Kewanee, Kristen Miller of Bloomington, Il., Brett Miller of Peoria, Il., Aaron Pratt of Toulon, Il. , Luke Pratt of Kewanee, Scarlett Snider Gunning of Fort Collins, Co., one great grandson Darian Pratt of Rockford, Il. four sisters Beth (Jack) Sommers of Berthoud, Co. Lois Boese of Harvard, Il. , Carol (John) Gerrond of Rockford, Il. , Mary Jane (Lee) Stabler of Kewanee, three brothers John (Sharon) Miller of Neponset, Il. Ron (Carolyn) Miller of Neponset, Il. Bob (Laurie) Miller of Kewanee and several generations of nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a 64 year member of the Neponset United Methodist Church where she served as Church Organist for 35 years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Eileen was employed as a medical transcriptionist at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg retiring in October of 2013.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 30, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee. Pastor David Ducommon and Pastor David Berry will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, July 29th at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Neponset Floral Hill Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice. Private online condolences may be shared with family at
