Betty Lou Hampton, 77, of Kewanee, died at 6:34 AM, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 5;00-7:00 PM, Monday, May 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with an opportunity for sharing at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
She was born June 17, 1936 in Kewanee, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Meyers) Brown. She married Phillip O. “Nick” Hampton on December 27, 1953 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1989. Survivors include a son, Steven Hampton of Kewanee, a daughter, Lesa Hampton of Clever, MO, her granddaughter, Ruby Dakota and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James, Warren and Kenneth Brown, a sister, Gladys Bright and a daughter, Brenda Larson.
Betty was a homemaker and had worked as a sewer at Boss Manufacturing. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, photography, cross-stitching, reading mystery books, doing the crypto quotes in the newspaper and cats. She especially enjoyed her family.
