Donavon D. Kleckner, 80, of Annawan passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Don’s life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday May 16, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Rev. Stephen Engelbrecht will celebrate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan where military honors will be accorded by the Hooppole American Legion Post. Visitation for Don will be 5-7 PM Thursday, May 15th at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. There will also be visitation ½ hour prior to the Mass on Friday at the church in Annawan. Memorials may be left to the Donavon Kleckner Memorial Fund
Donavon was born October 10, 1933 in rural Annawan, IL the son of John and Ester (Causemaker) Kleckner. He was a 1952 graduate of Annawan High School and was united in marriage to Adrianna M. Blackert on April 14, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Don was a foreman in the warehouse of Pemberthy Inc. in Prophetstown retiring after working there for 42 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan and the Hooppole American Legion Post. Don enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife: Adrianna; brother: Robert Kleckner of Texas; sister: Maxine (Vern) Adkins of Kewanee, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Duane and John; sister: Carol Young and niece: Lori Young.
