Larthenia 'Tina' Coomes Squire

Toulon - Larthenia “Tina” Coomes Squire, 96, of Toulon, passed away at 1:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Toulon.

She was born on November 23, 1917, in Hagerstown, Indiana, to Granville L. and Rosa Nell (Thalls) Coomes. She married Robert E. Wagner in February of 1941. They were divorced in 1963. She married Marshall M. Squire on July 2, 1963.

Surviving are two sons: David (Patricia) Wagner, of Hereford, AZ, and Robert Squire of Elmhurst, IL; two daughters: Katherine Squire of Chicago, and Janet (Robert) Wilkinson of Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Edna (John) Boiles of Lake St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1996, and a son, John Wagner, in November of 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Robert Coomes and Granville J. Coomes.

Tina graduated from Hagerstown-Jefferson Township High School in 1935. She worked at The Keebler Company in Elmhurst, IL, in the payroll department for 14 years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and counted cross-stitch. She was also an avid fan of Chicago Cubs baseball and loved listening to the games on the radio.

Tina was a member of the First Congregational Church in Toulon, where she was active in the Super Seniors Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Toulon American Legion Auxiliary, the Toulon Women’s Club, and the U.S.S. Hancock Association.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 A.M. at her church with the Reverend Wayne McLeod officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown, IN, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Memorials may be made to the Toulon Public Library District or MSW Projects (Toulon Nutrition Site).

Arrangements are being handled by Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes, Toulon. Condolences may be sent to the family
