NEPONSET - Alvera A. VanWynsberghe, 85, of Kimberling, MO, formerly of Neponset, died at 8:40 PM, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Peoria Heights, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Dr. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services and inurnment will held at Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
She was born September 10, 1928 in Atkinson, the daughter of Richard Albert and Laura (Nickerson) Pont. She married Julius VanWynsberghe on May 28, 1966 in Tampico, IL and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1997. Survivors include her son, Jim Tremont of Neponset, two daughters, Genia (Tim) Workheiser of Peoria and Eva (Troy) Pinnick of Kewanee, step-daughter, Donna VanWynsberghe of Milwaukee, WI, a sister, Beverly (Bob) Harvey of Vail, AZ, eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Shirley Drury, a brother, Stanley Pont in infancy, a daughter, Julia Mae Daughtery and a step-daughter, Mary Ann Robbins.
Alvera attended beauty school and had been a beautician since 1947. She had worked at Harvey’s Beauty Salon in Kewanee, at Cut Above in Kimberling City, MO and had done hair out of her home in Neponset. She was a member of the First United Methodist in Kimberling City, MO and the Neponset United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, birds and bird watching.
