KEWANEE- Frances W. Johnston, 89, of Kewanee, died at 11:05 PM, Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Kewanee Care Home.
Per her request private services with her family will be held at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends and family are all invited to join in celebrating the life of Frances at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 7 at the Flemish American Club. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
She was born December 13, 1924 in Wall, SD, the daughter of Peter and Wilhelmina (Dekok) Wasner. She married Donald C. Johnston on January 15, 1946 in Owatonna, MN and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1995. Survivors include her son, Keith C. Johnston (Sharon) of Kewanee, her daughter, Barb A. Spear (Kip) of Kewanee, four grandchildren, Carrie Winter (Todd) of Kewanee, Chad Hodge (Wendy) of Princeton, Yanna McMeekan (Chad) of Woodhull and Duane Johnston (Lisa) of Kewanee and ten great grandchildren, Braeden, Madisen, Patrick, Payton, Tyvin, Harper, Blake, Tyler and Payten. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and six sisters.
Frances was reared and educated in South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She graduated from Marinette, Wisconsin High School in 1943. She retired from Empire Clothing where she was a supervisor and leather cutter. She was a member of the Flemish American Club and the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee.
