Suzanne M. “Suzie” Pettit, 40, of Geneseo and Monmouth passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Hammond Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Geneseo, IL. A Funeral Mass celebrating Suzie’s life will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo, IL. Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Suzie will be held 4-8 PM Friday, February 28th at the church where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be left to Warren Achievement Center. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Suzie was born October 29, 1973 in Silvis, IL and was the beloved daughter of Robert “Bob” and Virginia “Ginny” (Marchese) Pettit, Jr. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Suzie loved music, hanging out with her family and friends, birthday parties, and putting smiles on people’s faces. She loved her family, her friends, and the caregivers at Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth, IL.
Survivors include her parents: Bob and Ginny Pettit of Geneseo; grandmothers: Hazel Pettit of Geneseo, Maxine Marchese of Geneseo 4 sisters: Glenda Thomas of Geneseo, Anita (Donald) Westcott of Wentzville, MO, Casey (Patrick) Elder of Spring Grove, IL, and Joanna (Meghan) Pettit McCallum of Evanston, IL; 1 brother: Jay (Janelle) Pettit of Geneseo, IL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friends: Mindy, B.J., Jerry, Todd, and her loving caregivers at Warren Achievement Center.
Suzie was preceded in death by both her grandfathers: Robert Pettit Sr. and Carmelo Marchese.
