Mary Ellen O’Hara, 86, of Kewanee, Il. died at 12:40 P.M. at the Toulon Health Care Center. Mary Ellen was born August 10, 1927 in Mattoon, Il. the daughter of Harry M. and Jennie M. (Smith) Prentice, Sr. Mary Ellen married Frankie G. O’Hara on July 30, 1952 in Daytona, Fl. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Maureen Poulter in 2013, a sister Jeannine Toomey, a brother Harry “Bud” Prentice, an infant son, two infant brothers and an infant granddaughter, Heather.
Surviving are two daughters Candy (Bill) Terry of Plains, Georgia, Shannon O’Hara Webster and her friend Jay Cone of Kewanee, three sons Terry (Kathy) Prentice of Peoria, Il.. Kelly (Mary Beth) O’Hara of Tuscola, Il. and Kasey (Ginger) O’Hara of Fenton, Mo., ten grandchildren Tara, Mike, Jami, James, Jennifer, Sean, Andrea, Mary, Tyler, Brooke and thirteen great grandchildren and a son-in-law Allen Poulter of Charleston, Il.
Mary Ellen was affiliated with the Girl Scouts for 20 years, and was Past President and Treasurer of the Henry County Republican Women. She made many mission trips with her husband. She was a St. Peter’s Quilter for 10 years and served as an election judge.
Her heart is ever with the Lord. She leaves behind many special friends and beloved nieces and nephews from Massachusetts. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Elders Jack Heller, Dean Foster and Harold Bantz will officiate.. Burial will be in the West Jersey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, February 20th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
