William Duane Osborne

MORTON - William Duane Osborne, 78, of Morton, formerly of Kewanee, died at 11:05 PM, Monday, November 25, 2013 at Unity Point Health - Methodist in Peoria.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Mark DeSutter will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament in Morton or tornado relief in central Illinois.

He was born August 24, 1935 in Chicago, the son of Chester and Evelyn (Conklin) Osborne. He married Mary Boswell. She survives, as do a son, Mike (Rachel) Osborne, two grandchildren, Aaron Clyde Osborne and Grace Catherine Osborne , brother-in-law, David (Sara) Boswell, sister-in-law, Jane Boswell, and cousins, Jerry (Shirley) Hoover and Sandy (Jess) Galetti. He was preceded in death by his parents.

William graduated from Kewanee High School in 1953. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament in Morton and the Knights of Columbus in Pekin. He loved to fish and would take his wife, son and grandchildren out on his boat. He and his wife especially enjoyed annual trips to northern Wisconsin where they would stay in a cabin, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.

Baseball was his favorite sport, he was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and followed them closely every year. The 2005 World Series and the season leading up to it was a special time for him and his family. He also enjoyed football, he was a fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He followed the Cardinals from the time they were in Chicago. He also followed the Chicago Bears for his wife and son.

After 35 years of service at Caterpillar he retired and spent his time watching his grandchildren play soccer and teaching them to fish. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at
