William E. Floto, 78, of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Emergency Room. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30th at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for William will be from 9:30 – 11:00am on Saturday, prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the William Floto Memorial Fund. Vandemore funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
William was born on October 10, 1935 in Geneseo, IL, the son of Ernest Floto and Helen (Withrow) Floto-Terpening. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School. He was united in marriage to Ruth E. Dersham on October 23, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. William worked as a machinist for International Harvester Works in East Moline for 28 years, retiring in 1992.
William was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. He was also a member of the Big Six Studebaker Club. He enjoyed working on his old cars. He also enjoyed playing cards, word games, and working on his computer. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters: Cindi (Rick) Cathelyn, Geneseo, IL, Sue (Pat) Boone, Geneseo, IL, Victoria Floto, Spring Hill, FL; sons: Michael (Carrie) Floto, Cambridge, IL, Bobby Floto, Tampa FL, James Floto, Rock Island, IL; grandchildren: Christy, Jessica, Amanda, Ryan, Nicole, Vince, Donavon, Elaina, Justine; 15 great grandchildren; brothers: John (Helen) Floto, Long Island, NY, Loren (Jan) Floto, Rockton, IL; sisters: Carol Boyd, Geneseo, IL, Gail Edwards, East Moline, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Deborah.
