GALVA - Wayne Troline, 84, of Galva, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 3, 1929 at his home on the Troline Family Farm established in 1867 in rural Galva near his beloved Bishop Hill Swedish settlement.
Wayne was a 1947 graduate of Galva High School, Galva, IL. He attended the University of Illinois before returning home to the family farm and marrying Evelyn Murnen on Old Settler’s Day September 23, 1951. They raised six children and enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage, family and business partnerships always at each other’s side.
Wayne was happiest while engaging in the farm and Amway business responsibilities and interacting with family and friends throughout his local communities. He was a life member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Bishop Hill Old Settlers 4th generation descendent and volunteer, Past President Galva Athletic Boosters, Card Club 60+ year member, Galva High School Wall of Fame honoree, Sports enthusiast and fan with special interest in Chicago Bears Football, University of Illinois football and basketball, and our Galva Wildcats.
Wayne’s ongoing encouragement to be a better person was passed on to those he learned to know. He gave unselfishly back to others, a trait that will be remembered by many. He knew no strangers and treasured friendships.
Survivors include his best friend and wife, Evelyn Troline of Galva; his devoted children, Janet (Stephen “Benny”) Kenyon of Bristol, IL, Alan (Katherine) Troline of Roswell, GA, Mark (Karen) Troline of Macomb, IL, Lori (Kerry) Maloney of Denver, CO, Don (Lori) Troline of Cumming, GA and Ron Troline of Naperville, IL; his loving grandchildren, Chad, Graham, Spencer, Brandon, Brittany, Madison and Jack Troline and Ashley (Cal) Melvin; amazing great-grandchildren, Cam and Addilyn Melvin; dear sister, Norma Huber of Galva; as well as nieces, nephews, and many caring extended family members and friends that he held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Troline; mother, Nina (Johnson) Troline; brother, Donald Troline; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Howard) Troline; grandchildren, Zachary and Cassandra Troline.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 25 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva. Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, November 24 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
