Robert D. “Bob” Wallace, 78, of Kewanee, Il. died Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital. Bob was born October 6, 1935 in rural Knox County the youngest of five sons born to Russell and Elizabeth (Walker) Wallace. He graduated from Toulon Twp. High School in 1953.
Bob married Mary Mercer on July 29, 1955 in the Osceola Baptist Church. She survives along with two daughters Susan (Tim) Shaner of Bradford, Il., Stephanie (Brian) Johnson of Kewanee, one son Spencer (Lois DeRycke) Wallace of Mesa, Az. Six grandchildren Stacey, Lance and Zachary Shaner, Ellen Johnson and Nelson and Avery Wallace, three great grandchildren Oliver, Isaak and Genevieve and three brothers Eddie (Darlene) Wallace of LaFayette, Il., Mervin (Gwen) Wallace of Toulon, Ill., Eugene (Wanda) Wallace of Galva, Il.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother Harry. Bob had been employed by Hyster Company and later drove a truck over the road for Purdy Brothers retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Kewanee Krashers remote contol airplane club and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and good music.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Inurnment will be in the Osceola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday, November 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Citizen Center.
