John P. Hasbrook, 55, of Buda and Sheffield, IL passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut, IL. A Memorial Service will be held celebrating John’s life at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Vandemore Funeral Homes of Atkinson. Jim Croegaert will officiate. Visitation for John will be held from 4-6 pm (2 hours prior to the service) at the funeral home on Tuesday. There will be a private family inurnment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield. Per John’s request cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be left to the John Hasbrook Memorial Fund.
John was born December 14, 1957, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Charles and Bernice (Franck) Hasbrook. He was a 1976 graduate of Annawan High School. He was united in marriage to Lynn “Pinky” Johnston in Princeton, IL. He worked at Ace Hardware in Princeton, IL for several years. John was a farmhand helping many local farmers in the area. John was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing and an avid sports enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife Lynn “Pinky” Johnston, Princeton, IL; daughter: Heather Samuels, Annawan, IL; 3 grandchildren: Julian, Gia, Lincoln; 4 sisters: Julie McDougald of DeWitt, IA, Jill (Lynn) VanAcker of Princeton, IL, Joyce Minnaert (larry Sheldon) of Princeton, IL, and Jayne Horton (John Scrimsher) of Wyanet, IL; 2 brothers: Jerry (Karen) Hasbrook of Marietta, GA, Joe (Maureen) Hasbrook of Sheffield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
