Vickie Lee Lawrence, 51, of Annawan, formerly of Atkinson, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Atkinson. Father S. Stephen Engelbrecht and Father R. Anthony Lee will celebrate. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Atkinson. Following the burial the family will be having a celebration of Vickie’s life and ask that all of Vickie’s friends and family join them in sharing stories and good times at the church hall. Visitation for Vickie will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30pm. Memorials may be left to the Vickie Lawrence Memorial Fund.
Vickie was born May 5, 1962 in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Lavern Neuleib and Jean Verkruyse. She graduated from Atkinson High School in 1980. She was united in marriage to Kris Lawrence in 1984. Vickie had been employed at Springfield Armory, Inc. for over 25 years, where she started as an Executive Secretary and moved up into the management division.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and ladybugs.
Vickie is survived by her 3 children: Kara Lawrence, Springfield, IL, Kale Lawrence, and his daughter Jayden, Atkinson, IL, , Kristi Lawrence, and her daughter Ezrah, Annawan, IL; mother: Jean (Toot) Causemaker, Atkinson, IL; father: Lavern Neuleib, Colona, IL; 3 sisters: Val (Loren) Jackson, Annawan, IL, Verna (Steve) Looney, Kewanee, IL, Vanessa (John) Addis, Annawan, IL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and grandson Sean.
