Vincent L. Ratcliff, 92, (33,664 days) of Wyoming, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at his residence.
Vincent was born May 15, 1921, in Stark, Illinois, the son of Roy and Mary Carroll Ratcliff.
He is survived by one son, Leo (Donna) of Lacon; granddaughter, Leah of Chillicothe; grandson, Lance of Springfield, MO; sisters, Helen Anne Clifford of Chillicothe and Mary Jane (Anil) Verma of Brooklyn, NY; brother, John (Lois) Ratcliff of Bradford; and fifteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, one sister, and four brothers.
Vincent graduated from Dunlap High School. He honorably served as a United States Army Veteran during World War II in Europe, where he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Battle of Normandy. He retired as a Merchant Marine. Vincent was instrumental in placing the survivors at Delco.
He worked as a sales clerk at the grocery store in Speer and at Allen Lumber Yard in Lacon and Princeton. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and had an infinity for playing the horses.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Wyoming Funeral Home. Rev. Al Harmon will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service. Burial will be in Sheets Cemetery, rural Stark County.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wyoming American Legion Post #91 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
