Mark S. Peed, 59, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:30 PM, Monday, June 24, 2013 at his home.Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00, Friday, June 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Joe Schmidt of the First Christian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 27 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or to Hook & Bullet.
He was born May 9, 1954 in Kewanee, the son of John and Juanita (Walwer) Peed. He married Crystal “Chris” F. Currier on January 25, 1980 in Kewanee. She survives, as do his mother of Kewanee, two sons, Tim (Ruth) Peed of Neponset and Jason (Lisa) Peed of Kewanee, two daughters, Jaime Peed Cree of Galva and Stephanie Peed of Kewanee, two brothers, Matthew (Kathy) Peed of Florida and Marty Peed of Kewanee, two sisters, Sherry (Ken) Johnson of Kewanee and Shelly (Ed) Newcomb of Viriginia, six grandchildren, Erin, Destiny, Cylie, Caitlynn, Tanner and Alex, two step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Christian.
Mark graduated from Kewanee High School in 1972. He served his country in the U.S. Army from December of 1972 until December of 1978 achieving the rank of Sargent. He worked as a machine operator at Kewanee Boiler for 30 years and lastly at Great Dane for 5 years. He was a member of Hook & Bullet and thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his buddies, Tom Entas, Bill McDonald, Dan Thomas, Zack Woods and Brandon Rohrig.
