Marilyn Williams, 81, a resident at Hawthorn Inn in Galesburg, formerly of Galva, passed away peacefully at 4:05 PM, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Galva. Pastor Ann Champion will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will be in the Galva Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Alzheimers Association or the Compass Hospice. . Rux Funeral Home, Galva is in charge of arrangements.Marilyn was born on July 27, 1931 in Coal Valley, Il, the daughter of Douglas and Ethel Lambert Gainey. She married Leonard Ross Williams on May 21, 1950 in Moline. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers in infancy and a grandson, Johnathon. Survivors include 3 sons, David D (Ronna) Williams of Galva, Timothy R (Kay) Williams of Naperville, Il and Michael A (Karen) Williams of Ocala, FL, a daughter Candy (Alan) Fones of Monmouth, IL, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchild, and 1 sister, Mildred “Susie” Anderson of Erie, IL.
She had graduated from Geneseo High School in 1948. She had worked as a bookkeeper at the Chevy Dealership in Moline then at various places in Galva doing secretarial and office work. For 23 ½ years, she had worked at the Galva Co-Op as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva and was especially proud of her family.
