Kenneth L. “Buck” Renner, 71, of Geneseo passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating Buck’s life will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, IL. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooppole Cemetery, Hooppole, IL. Visitation for Buck will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home in Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the family.
Buck was born July 13, 1941 in Sterling, IL the son of LeRoy and Corella (Fehlman) Renner. He was a 1959 graduate of Atkinson High School. Buck was a lifelong auto mechanic, first working at the former Kittrel Motors in Geneseo and then for 27 years he worked for the former Warren Chevrolet which became Green Chevrolet, retiring in 1999. Buck was involved in drag racing and won the World Championship Drag Racing title at the Cordova Dragway 3 times. Buck also enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan but his true passion was for cars, especially Chevy’s. He was a very talented and dedicated mechanic.
Survivors include his brother: Dennis (Phyllis) Renner of Geneseo; 1 nephew: Travis Renner; 1 niece: Tracy Renner; 1 great-nephew: Drake; and special neighbor boys: Darian and Dalton.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents.
