“Gummer” John Rumley, 66, of Clinton, IL, formerly of Cambridge, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28th at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Cremation will take place after the service and a private inurnment will be at a later date at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.John Clayton Rumley was born June 10, 1946 in Leon, Iowa, the son of Woodrow and Laura Cleo Webster Rumley. Cleo later married Edward Collins, who helped to raise John. He was educated in Geneseo area schools. His marriage to Frances Jean Dole took place on June 12, 1971 in Cambridge. John worked for nine years at the IBP Plant in Joslin and finished his working career at the Walmart store in Clinton, retiring in 2008 due to poor health. He enjoyed fishing, BINGO, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those surviving are his wife, Jean, three children, John Rumley, Jr., Illinois, Cheri (Terry) Golden, Clinton, IL, Joe (Destiny) Rumley, Kewanee, six grandchildren, Shawna and Kailea Golden, and Tyson, Dawson, Carson, and Payson Rumley. Other survivors include three sisters, Debi (Jeff) Tucker, Clinton, IL, Karen (Don) Manley, Davenport, Evelyn Butcher, Leon, IA, five brothers, Jack (Gay) Collins, Rock Island, Donald Collins, Ft. Myers, FL, Frank Collins, Cambridge, Lonnie (Maryland) Rumley, Leon, and Joe Rumley, Leon, several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. His parents, his daughter, Amy Jo, with whom he is now reunited, two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death.
