Irene Buck, 93, of Dahinda, passed away at 2:06 AM, Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical in Galesburg.Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 25 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Jennifer Seder. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 24 at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield. Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield Rescue Squad.
She was born October 2, 1919 in Truro Twp., Williamsfield, the daughter of Lyman and Flora (Shaw) Broadfield. She married Earl Buck in 1940 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1982. Survivors include two sons, David (Kristie) Buck of Dahinda and Eldon (Carolyn) of Williamsfield, two grandsons, Aaron and Neil Buck, a great grandson, Connor and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Irene graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1938. She lived and farmed in the Laura area until moving to Knoxville in 1983. She was Millbrook Township Clerk for 14 years, a teacher’s aid at Millbrook School and also helped with the school lunch program. She had volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for 20 years and was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed going mushrooming and berry picking. She also enjoyed card playing and was very proud of her children and all her family members.
