Madlyn David, 94, of Kewanee, Il. died at 8:45 A.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the home of her son Eddie. Madlyn was born April 10, 1919 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of Charles and Clara (Martin) Lippens. She married Bernard David on February 15, 1941 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers Charles and Prosper Lippens and two sisters Leona Johnson and Mary Barnes. Surviving is her son Eddie David of Kewanee, five grandchildren Sarah (Jimmy) Rodela, Theresa (Shiana) David, Madlyn (Jerry VanDeVelde) David, Lorie (Jeff) Daniel and Bernard (Kathy) David, five great grandchildren Kayla Rodela, David Rodela and Nicole Rodela and Luke Peed, Alyssa Nanninga and Anthony David, three great great grandchildren Mackenzie, Makenna and Ana and her former daughter-in-law Jan David.
Madlyn was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Flemish American Club. She had been employed at Ace Leather in Kewanee prior to her retirement. She enjoyed hand crafts, reading, spending time with her family and will especially be remembered for her baking of pies and cookies at the holidays.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 20, 2013 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Citizen Center.
