Lea Moffitt, 90, of Moline, formerly of Galva, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17th, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be at the Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Galva.Pearl Lea Morris was born July 23, 1922 in Colorado Springs, CO, the daughter of James and Lela Jackson Morris. She was educated in the Doniphan, Missouri area. Her marriage to Howard E. Moffitt took place on December 1, 1939 in Fort Madison, Iowa. He passed away on March 6, 2007. The couple began farming in the Galva area in 1945. They retired and moved to Galva in 1973.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Galva, and the Galva Women’s Club. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and reading. Mrs. Moffitt was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Those surviving are two daughters and a son-n-law, Carol Gordon, Colona, Linda and William Conner, Milan, two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Connie Moffitt, Alamogordo, NM, and Roger and Jan Moffitt, Rock Island. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, two brothers, and a step sister preceded her in death.
