Blaine Davis Reed, 92, of Kewanee, Il. died at 8:50 P.M., Friday, April 19, 2013 at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee.
Blaine was born February 13, 1921 in Kewanee the son of Ralph and Maude (Blunt) Reed. He graduated from Neponset High School in 1940. Blaine married Marcella McLane on September 11, 1940 in Muscatine, Iowa. She survives along with six children Douglas Reed of East Moline, Gary (Linda) Reed of Princeton, Il., Linda (Ron) Conner of Denver, Co., Sandra Reed of Aurora, Co., Kimberly (Mitchell) Winn of Kewanee and Shelley Reed of Kewanee, six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two sisters Olive (Don) Heaton of Fort Collins, Co., and Barbara Hawk of Monmouth, Il..
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dexter and four brothers Lawrence, Kenneth, Paul and Robert Reed.
Blaine and Marcella farmed for over 50 years north of Osceola in Elmira Twp, Stark County prior to retiring in 1987. He also operated a citizen band radio business and sold seed corn. Blaine was a member of the First Baptist Church and had served on numerous boards and committees, including Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Stark County Farm Bureau, Elmira School Board and authored a book on the History of Osceola.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Dr. Kevin Siscoe of the First Baptist Church of Kewanee will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services with private family inurnment in the Osceola Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Kewanee.
