Don Raymond Meyer, 82, of Kewanee, Il. died at 3:40 A.M., Thursday, April 18, 2013 at his home. Don was born April 9, 1931 in Kewanee, Il. the son of Ray and Vivian (Wipert) Meyer. He graduated from Wethersfield, High School in 1949. Don married Ida Raifsnider on March 20, 1955 in Cambridge, Il.
She survives along with three daughters Kathy Meyer and Jacque Verscha of Kewanee, Lori (Jim) Vermost of Cambridge, Il. Diane (Carl) Rohrig of Neponset, Il., one son Robert (Liz) Meyer of Cambridge, Il, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two brothers David (Sarah) Meyer of Kalamazoo, Mi. and Dr. Del Meyer of Portage, Mi.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Don had been employed at German Sales and Service for 40 years having begun work at an early age. He retired in 1986 and later was employed at Ingersoll and Arends John Deere Dealership.
Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kewanee and the Flemish American Club. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and doing lawn mower repair work. He especially enjoyed his kids and grandkids.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 22, 2012 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Dr. Dale Dykstra of the First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee, Il. will officiate. Private family graveside services will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee, Il.
