For one week the Vietnam Traveling Wall will call Geneseo home, and it will be “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Week”. On Wednesday, August 7th, the community will welcome the exhibit with a Patriot Guard and local police escort. The wall will then be located at the north side of City Park. It will open to the public Thursday, August 8th, at noon. Opening ceremonies begin that evening at 6:30 followed by an ice-cream social and musical entertainment. On Saturday, August 10th, a “Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran’s Parade will begin at 2 o’clock. Vietnam veterans will also be treated to a complimentary pork chop dinner. The event will draw to a close on Sunday with a 1 p.m. memorial service honoring all area servicemen who lost their lives. The Traveling Wall is being hosted by Geneseo VFW Don Cherry Post 5083, the Auxiliary, and the Geneseo Foundation.
