A Geneseo man and his son were killed as the result of a Friday afternoon accident that occurred at the intersection of U. S. Route 6 and Illinois Route 84. 39 year old Scott Teerlink was the driver of a motorcycle that collided with a car driven by 81 year old Joyce Firth of Colona. Mr. Teerlink was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henry County Coroner. His son, 10 year old Luke Teerlink was air lifted from the scene to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he died on Saturday.
According to authorities, the crash, which occurred Friday afternoon around 2 o’clock, happened when the vehicle driven by Ms. Firth reportedly turned north onto Route 84 from Route 6 into the path of the oncoming motorcycle which was unable to avoid hitting the vehicle. Both father and son were thrown from the vehicle.
Authorities ticketed Ms. Firth for making an improper turn. Further charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation.
