Illinoisans are being warned about a new phone scam. Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the scammers pose as representatives with Microsoft or other tech companies. The caller then claims that they detected a virus on the person's computer. The phony representative then tries to con the person into giving them remote access to their computer, or gets the victim to pay for unnecessary software repairs. Madigan says you should hang up on a caller that requests your password or wants credit card information over the phone.
