Pension Reform Prompts Push To Retire

State workers are rushing to retire so they can lock in their pension benefits before an overhaul goes into effect June 1st.  About eleven-hundred workers filed to retire last month, more than five times the average number for a month.  Those taking that step believe they'll be able to maintain their pensions at the level they are now, though the outcomes of lawsuits challenging pension reform could also have an impact.  Laborers, prison guards, legislative secretaries and university professors are all included in the group of potential retirees.
