Short on time and money but your family still wants home cooked meals? Experienced chefs and penny-pinchers Ann Anderson and Sharon Bainbridge, both of Galva, will be sharing time- and money-saving tips for planning and preparing great meals your family will love—all without breaking the bank.
Creative Quick & Easy Meal Planning and Cooking—On a Budget! is part of the church’s on-going “Refresh Her” series. This cooking demonstration is planned for Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 9:30-11:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Galva in Dean Hall.
“Come hungry,” advises home chef Anderson. “Not only will we be discussing recipes, we’ll be serving samples.”
According to Anderson, big batch cooking—a method where main dishes for several meals are made from some of the same ingredients and frozen for later use—is only one key to time- and grocery money-saving success.
Said Anderson “Buying food in bulk and buying meat at loss-leader pricing are is two other valuable skills. I will be explaining how to do this for maximum savings without sacrificing taste or food quality.”
Sous-chef Bainbridge will share shortcuts from her restaurant food preparation experience as well as versatile recipes. “I will show you how, with one basic recipe and one day of prepping, can provide main dishes to make mealtime easier.”
Along with providing recipes, planning and buying secrets, Anderson and Bainbridge will demonstrate specialized cooking techniques. There will be drawings for door prizes. Childcare is also provided. The public is invited.
Associate pastor Rebekah Montgomery will also share soul-nourishing resources for women and their families. “As is important as it is for women to prepare health meals, it is important for women to nourish the souls of their families, too. These are fun activities that promote togetherness, a functional family atmosphere, and emotionally healthy people,” said Montgomery.
The next class in the Refresh Her series is EXTREME Couponing and Coupon Exchange on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 9:30-11:30 AM. This class will feature coupon whizzes Valerie Courier and Natalie Sutton who will reveal techniques for saving money.
